The Four-Way Test Of the things we think, say or do:
|
Since we transitioned from our old format to a new one, we would like to back up and recall some happenings on some previous Thursday meetings:
On Sept22, Landy Warren presented to us Senator Steve Ogden who brought us up to date on what was going on in The State Legislature.
On Sept 29 we were honored by the annual DG visit, DG Ed Mullen gave us a warm and informative message on Rotary’s goals for the coming year , he was accompanied by his Rotary Ann Candy Mullen.
Then on Oct 6 our own Dale Riklefs, who is district chair for the Rotary Exchange Student Program , enlightened us on the procedures for making nominations of eligible students to enter this program.
Then on Oct 13, Dr Steve Wilson presented to us a slide presentation on the recent Special Olympics which we sponsored and which was planned again this year by Mike Swayse ( Mike is again to be highly commended for year after year making this event run smoothly and performing a great service to the community). Steve’s slide show was really outstanding and captured the spirit of the Special Olympics in pictures for us.
Last Thursday was Club Assembly day and the various Chairs gave reports:
Interact Club Chair, Bryan Sellers reported on their activities--- They had a project which raised $100.00 for Hurricane victims.
Community Service Chair John Smith ( is that his real name?) reported that the Cushing Clean-Up will start at 8 am Saturday (Oct 22).
Coats for Kids will take place at the Dell Diamond on Nov.5 – Ebby Green is Chair for the event.
Mike Martin ( International Chair) reported on our joining the Tampico Mexico club in donating some hospital equipment----- and----- Officers from the Tampico Club will be our guests next week at our regular Thursday meeting.
Finally, Fred Daler gave a very interesting Classification talk about his years of working in the automotive industry.
FYI---- ole Scott , the Sage of Henly Street and once a Cowboy says::
Never squat with your spurs on, Never kick a fresh cow chip on a hot day, and
If you find yourself in a hole, the first thing to do is—stop digging.
