The Rock Rotary Club of Round Rock, Texas May 5, 2006 |
The Four-Way Test Of the things we think, say or do:
|
Well--- Ole Fred threw me a curve last week---- according to the schedule
I have last Thursday’s meeting was supposed to be a Club Assembly, which
I dutifully reported-----buttt------ when I arrived at the meeting, I noticed
a whole bunch of strange people--- I don’t mean strange like Scott Evans,
I meant people who I didn’t recognize , and I wondered why they were
all there . It turned out that We (Our Rotary Club) were hosting the District
5870 Youth Service Above Self Awards. Benjamin Ford, from the Downtown Austin
Club came up to host the event and presented the Students from different High
Schools , accompanied by their parents and friends, their awards which consisted
of a Plaque and a $200.00 savings bond. Ben Ford did a great job of emceeing
the event.
Ben Ford honored the following Students
with the Youth Service Above Self Awards:
Samantha Orton honored by the Hutto Rotary Club
Hemlata Malani honored by the Round Rock Rotary Club
Sarah Jatzlau honored by the Round Rock Sunrise Rotary Club
Tiffany Samuelson honored by the Taylor Rotary Club
Chris Ratliff honored by the Pflugerville Rotary Club
At the meeting we were honored with the presence of Eric Whitfield, past Pres.
of the Round Rock Sunrise Rotary club--- Eric brought us flyers and invited
us to go with him and others to The Saltillo Farms Project on May 19, 20,
21 ---- they will leave the Austin Area the morning of the 19th and have dinner
in Saltillo that nite—total cost should average about $200 per person.
Eric can be reached at 689-1541.
This weeks meeting, I have been officially informed will be a Club Assembly---
this will be a great time to bring a friend and/or potential member to this
meeting. Mr Barry Curlee, Assistant Governor, will present his Membership
Program and he will give all prospective new members, and our New Members,
a good idea what Rotary is all about.
Pres Lori reports that the District 5870 Annual Conference in San Antonio
was a huge success. Mike Martin and Dale Riklefs accompanied Lori to the Conference.
They attended a lot of good lectures about Rotary, met a lot of good Rotarians
from all over the District and just learned a lot about what Rotary is all
about. They also spent one evening on the River Walk at the "Nite in
Old San Antonio" celebration.
NOTICE: On May 18, our meeting will be held at the Forest Creek Golf course – it will be combination Golf Social and official meeting. Golfers can divvy up $39 bucks to play and Lunch will be served from 12:00 till 1:00 pm for $10. The Golf Tournament starts at 1:00 pm

Did You Know That???? In the 1400's a law was set forth that a man was not allowed to beat his wife with a stick any thicker than his thumb, hence , we have "the rule of thumb".
It is impossible to lick your Elbow.
Statistics show that 90% of the people try the above action after reading it...
111,111,111 times 111,111,11= 12,345,678,987,654,321?
