The Rock Rotary Club of Round Rock, Texas March 15, 2006 |
The Four-Way Test Of the things we think, say or do:
|
Upcoming Events |
| April 1 Special Olympics -- Stony Point Track |
| April 22/23 Relay for Life -- Dell Diamond |
| Lets not forget we are meeting this Thursday, March 16, at the Round Rock St. Davids Hospital and will be hosted by Charles Laird. Do you know how to get there???? Call Dr Fitzsimmons , Dr Guillory, Dr Wilson, Brad Thorne, Charles Laird, and Scott Evans...they will all take time out from their busy schedules to give you directions. If that doesn’t work, go on out to the Hospital and the lady at the main desk will direct you to the Cafeteria where we are meeting. Don’t forget--- we need to be there by 11:30 am. |
Last week Charles Colley was program presentor but was unable to attend, so
Pres. Lori introduced Matt Berg and Terrell Wilkey who presented our program.
Matt is project manager for CH2MHILL and Terrell is the Water Analyst in the
Public Works Department for the city of Round Rock. They are involved in the
Texas Water For People project ---this group attempts to bring fresh water
to backward countries all over the world by training the people, digging the
water wells, and teaching maintenance on the wells. This is an important project
and several Rotary Clubs around the world have participated. It is a worthwhile
project.
It might be of interest to you that for many years I have been aware of a
much more important problem facing the whole world--- water is a precious
resource whose quantities are limited, as is oil and gas, and we are using
more of it and polluting more of waters sources. We are facing a very serious
shortage of water and since it is the most necessary item in our survival,
protection of fresh water and its sources are most important to our future.
If this protection is not solved soon, we are in big trouble!
Our next big event for the whole club is the Special Olympics on April 1 at
the Stadium and Track of Stony Point High School. We have done this project
for several years thanks to the hard work of Mike Swayze and have come to
know the importance of making it a success every year. If you have not signed
up to help, please contact Mike and volunteer to help.

DID U KNOW??
On the Lighter side-----I was thinking
about how people seem to read the Bible a whole lot more as they get older----Then
it dawned on me---- they were cramming for their Finals!
Then I thought about how new mothers feed their babies with little Tiny Forks
and Spoons so I wondered what Chinese Mothers use. Perhaps, --- toothpicks!!!!!????
And—do you have puffiness under your eyes sometimes?------all you need
if a dab of Preparation H, carefully rubbed into the skin, avoiding the eyes,
this ointment will act as a vasoconstrictor (Fishin Daddy can explain what that
is), relieving the swelling instantly.
